There's Beauty In The Struggle

In this blog post, I am inviting you to witness my vulnerable side in a judgment-free space. I am going to open up about the struggles that I have faced, and I wanted to express to you all that it’s okay to not be okay and you don't have to have your life figured out all the time.

Hey, BossGirl! It's been a while! How have you been?

Time flies by so fast, doesn’t it? We’re already in the third month of 2021, it feels like yesterday I was writing the 2021 new year blog post! This is so crazy.

To start off, I would like to take a moment to apologize for my inconsistency, I know I disappeared quite suddenly without any explanation and I feel so bad for doing so. To be completely honest with you, I have not been able to create content for the blog due to some personal struggles.

When I started BossGirlsNow, my mission was to show all of you the realities of entrepreneurship, I wanted to be transparent and truthful about all the highs and lows and in-betweens. When I took the break from writing, I thought that if I was not feeling good or motivated, then there is no point in writing a blog, I thought that I have to “get myself together” first before creating content. However, I then realized that I needed to show you my true self and that I too, just like you, experience some bad days.

In this blog post, I am inviting you to witness my vulnerable side in a judgment-free space. I am going to open up about the struggles that I have faced, and I wanted to express to you all that it’s okay to not be okay and you don't have to have your life figured out all the time.

I am sure that you are very much familiar with the toxic hustle culture. This world gives us so much pressure and expects us to be on the grind 24/7. If you don't wake up at five o’clock in the morning and start chasing your dreams, then you're a failure. If you're not on the grind 24/7 this world can make us feel like we are wasting our life, right? It seems like we are almost being punished for taking breaks as if slowing down should never be an option.

BossGirl? Have you ever felt the same? Have you ever felt so overwhelmed with everything that needed to be done? Have you ever wanted to hide from the world for some time to find yourself again? Well, I can relate. The pressures got too much for me. I felt so overwhelmed and I felt a little bit guilty, because I ran a motivational page, and it seems like I couldn't find any motivation for myself.

The toxic hustle culture got too much for me. I had to take a break. During the break, I thought deeply about a lot of things and I had time to reflect upon my situation. I’m going to share with you some of my thoughts and reflections.

This world tells us to just shrug our feelings off. This world tells us that our emotions are hindering our success. This is so wrong! I feel like this attitude towards work and success can be very harmful. Being tired and burnt out is all part of being human. We should not beat ourselves up for needing rest now and then. Do not feel guilty about being tired and wanting a rest. It’s okay to grant yourself grace, it’s okay to pause and catch your breath. We are humans, we get tired, we fall, and we feel powerless. But we also get up, show up, and rise up. The most powerful thing you can do is to take care of yourself and be patient with the process.

There’s this one quote that says, “Resting is filling yourself up, so you can give the world the best of you instead of what’s left of you.” Remember BossGirl, this world needs what only you can give, you can only give your best when you are at your best. Give yourself permission to slow down, not because you’ve “earned” it, but because you need it. You are worth more than how many things you have accomplished on your to-do list. Resting doesn’t mean quitting, resting is self-care.

My last point is it's okay to have down days. My mission with this blog is to document both the good days and the bad days so that when I do overcome the bad days, I can inspire you that you can overcome anything. They say that one person’s struggle can become another person’s survival guide. And here I am, writing to you with the hopes that my struggle right now can become a guide for you in the future.

There is beauty in overcoming. But you know what? There is also an immense amount of beauty in the struggle. The world might not see your breakdowns nor your moments of hopelessness. The world might not see your late nights nor your early mornings. The world might not recognize your strength and how you are still able to stand up despite it all. But, hey I see you, BossGirl. And I'm so proud of you.
